Lieutenant John Candlish Allen, born 20 June 1874, Sunderland, Durham, England, son of William Shepherd Allen, M.A., M.P., and Elizabeth Penelope Candlish of Woodhead Hall, Cheadle, Staffordshire, died of wounds 19 October 1917, buried at Dozinghem Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
